Yesterday afternoon I made it back to the larger pond. In the chapter on "Ponds" in
Walden, Thoreau writes, "A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature." A few lines later, he uses the phrase, "Sky water." This painting is a 12x12 oil on panel.
