Exhibition Award

My painting in the 2022 Rockport Art Association & Museum National Show received the Paul Goodnow Memorial Award for Traditional Landscape in Oil. I’m delighted and honored, as well as deeply grateful, because the exhibition has so many great artworks in it. Thank you. The exhibition runs through December 31.

Rockport Painting

This painting underwent some slight changes, so I photographed it again. For some reason, I've always wanted to do this view.  16x20 inches, oil on linen panel.

The Motif On The Easel

Still Working

This painting I started four years ago, indicating at the time, that I may continue to work on it.  So I continued to work on it this past week.  30 x 32 inches, oil on canvas.

Rockport and Figures

This painting, which I've been working on for the last several days, is a view of Rockport. It's a 30x32 oil on canvas.  I may continue working on it.

One noticeable aspect of Isaac Levitan's paintings is that he seldom adds or includes human figures.  Compare his paintings to those of the fine painter, David Curtis, for example, who feels compelled to include figures.    For Levitan, nature carries or reflects all the human interest for the viewer.  Figures are unnecessary.
