Several Instances

The label describing the odd stance of the "Walking Man" in the Rodin sculpture exhibition at the Clark Art Institute says it combines more than one pose suggesting movement.  My little Field Farm painting contains several instances of the changing light on the mountain and trees all on the same surface, one on top of the other.  Plein air painting looks fresh because nothing can get nailed down. 6x8 inches, acrylic gouache on Guerrilla Painter carton board.

Painting With Cows

Wintry Greylock

The other day I read that George Inness was good at smearing paint on canvas and making it look like a lot of different things.   In the place where I live I can easily go and look at some Inness paintings.  I can confirm that he was good at it.  Here I smeared some paint to look like a wintry Mount Greylock, as it can be seen from Field Farm in Williamstown, MA. 18x24 inches, oil on linen canvas.
