Old Olive Trees

Olive Trees, Nice. 8x10 inches, oil on canvas.  The Garden of the Arenas in Cimiez, a part of Nice, has many old olive trees.  I've always wanted to paint a few.  No, I am not in Nice at the moment.

Painting of a Painting

A large painting of two boats being painted at the port in Nice.  I did a small gouache painting of the same view in September at Nice.  The idea of painting an image of a boat that is being painted for some reason intrigues me. 18x24 inches, oil on linen canvas.

Painting Them Again

At Cimiez I did paint

One day at Cimiez, Nice, I did paint the olive trees. 6x8 inches, gouache on mixed media paper.

Ents In Cimiez, Nice

A drawing of olive trees in the garden at the park in Cimiez, Nice.  They remind me of ents, because they are so old, each has a distinct personality, and they seem to move around, and certainly they look at you.  I would like to do a series. 10x8 inches, pencil on paper.

Next to Allee Miles Davis

Time for a drawing.  This one done at the park in Cimiez, Nice, where there are innumerable ancient olive trees.  This is a tree next to Allee Miles Davis.  The lanes in the park are named after American jazz artists. 8x10 inches, pencil and watercolor on paper.

Drydock in Nice

Nice port boat repair area.  The concrete under these boats is bespectacled with the long accumulation of paint drops and drips so that it looks like a Jackson Pollock painting.  6x8 inches, gouache on mixed media paper.

Every Day

The balcony view in Nice at a earlier time of day than that of last week's posting: the trees border the Promenade du Paillon, a large park bordering the old town.  The clock tower is situated in old town.  I could paint this view every day.  12x16 inches, oil on panel.
