The Ancient Light

In July Already

My mind has moved to early July with this view of Greylock from Sheep Hill in Williamstown, MA.  Even a small painting can hold a lot of painterly gestures.  6x8 inches, gouache and watercolor on mixed media paper.

Until Next Winter

Earlier I did a gouache study of this view of Mount Greylock and the Hopper in high summer from Sheep Hill in Williamstown, MA.  This is a larger oil version.  I'm done with winter until next winter.  18x24 inches, oil on linen canvas.

Not Much Melting Going On

This one I painted quickly with a simple palette.  As much as I'd like to see the snow melt, there wasn't much melting going on around here today.  This view on Sloan Road shows the old farmhouse, barn, and Mount Greylock. 6x8 inches, gouache and watercolor on mixed media paper.
