Pond at Field Farm, Williamstown, MA. 9x12 inches, pencil on paper. What I am trying to do here is draw what can't be drawn easily, abundant bursting nature.  I've been looking at the English artist Tom Fairs, whose drawings display a mastery of drawing the impossible.

In Front of Me

Rocks and Sea, Ogunquit, ME.  9x12 inches, pencil on paper.  I sat on a bench on the Marginal Way and sketched what was in front of me.  

Passageway

Path, Field Farm, Williamstown, MA. 9x12 inches, pencil on paper. I drew this while on my walk the other day.  It's a path cut into the tall grass going into the woods that feels like a passage from one realm into another.

Reacquaintance Drawing

Still Life Drawing

Still Life. 9x12 inches, pencil on paper.  I prefer still lifes like this one, where everything is where I found it, nothing arranged.  I'm tempted to call this an insomnia drawing since I did it in the wee hours of the morning.

Drawing Corn Stalks

Corn Stalks, Williamstown, MA. 9x12 inches, vine charcoal and charcoal pencil on paper.  The farmer told me that the corn stalks were left behind because the ground was too wet for the tractor.  I believe it.

Memory Drawing

Draw Something

It was still sunny, but chilly.  My goal was to stop somewhere and draw something. In a large open field, with a few trees, I drew as quickly as possible since the light was fading.  Field Farm in Williamstown, MA.  9x12 inches, pencil on paper.

Ents In Cimiez, Nice

A drawing of olive trees in the garden at the park in Cimiez, Nice.  They remind me of ents, because they are so old, each has a distinct personality, and they seem to move around, and certainly they look at you.  I would like to do a series. 10x8 inches, pencil on paper.

Time for a drawing.  This one done at the park in Cimiez, Nice, where there are innumerable ancient olive trees.  This is a tree next to Allee Miles Davis.  The lanes in the park are named after American jazz artists. 8x10 inches, pencil and watercolor on paper.

Lines In Nature
