Still Life Drawing

Still Life. 9x12 inches, pencil on paper.  I prefer still lifes like this one, where everything is where I found it, nothing arranged.  I'm tempted to call this an insomnia drawing since I did it in the wee hours of the morning.

Old One

Going through my drawings, I found this self-portrait from 1974.  It's approximately 24x18, charcoal and charcoal wash.

Drawing Night and Day

Right now I am working on three paintings.   The following interlude is presented to buy time until they are ready.

Over the years I have done thousands of drawings.  Some I framed but didn't store properly, and now have to reframe them.  While doing so,  a task I do when time permits, I also photograph them.  The above two charcoal drawings date back to the early 1980's.  I call them night drawings since I did most of them at night outside, but a few I did during the day, as you can see.  If you select the search label  'night drawing' in the list on the right, you can see the others that I have already reframed.  There are more to come.  They were done on the most exquisite surface, rag matboard.

Day Drawings

Next,  a while back I started a series called Night Drawings, which was supposed to consist of my older drawings done at night, that I was reframing, and using the occasion to photograph them.  I have started doing the reframing again, but not all the drawings were "night" drawings.  These are two done during the day, sometime during the mid 1980's.

Night Drawing

This drawing is from a series that I did in the 1980s.  I am reframing them, so it's an opportunity to photograph them.  There will be a few more.  My house back then had flood lamps at different corners. I would turn one or more on at night, and draw.  Sometimes I stood on a stepladder for a different perspective.
