A Lot Of Water Or Maybe Not

This morning, before the rain, I went back to Mt. Hope Park and the Green River, where I painted earlier this year in May and June.  Even though the river has been low all year, a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then.  The painting is 8x10 inches.  The drawing is slightly larger.

Look At Me

Mauserts Pond was still and quiet when I arrived yesterday morning.  Visually everything was shouting, 'Look at me!'. 9x12 inches, oil on panel.

More Shore

Having to choose between the dusty corn field at my feet, or the quiet water of a pond, I opted for the pond.  The pond is smaller and shallower now than when I painted there a couple months ago.  I can see more of the bottom from the shore, and there is more shore. 9x12 inches, oil on panel.

Different Time Same Place

On the first day of July, which seems like a long time ago, I started this painting at Mauserts Pond.  I completed it yesterday.  The weather was similar though the season is not. 9x12 inches, oil on linen.

Wasteland

 The wasteland of a corn field,  a sad beauty.  9x12 inches, charcoal pencil on paper.

Like Tiny Birds

So I spent some time painting at the edge of a dusty and strangely attractive corn field, a corn field in which all the corn stalks were shattered to bits.  The ground was littered with corn tinsel.  Some pieces even flew around like tiny birds.  8x10 inches, oil on panel.

Continuation

This afternoon the sun reappeared so I continued my series at Greylock Works in North Adams, MA.  Both the painting and the drawing are 12x9 inches.  

Mill Work

The hazy sun lasted long enough earlier today for me to complete this drawing and painting at Greylock Works.  Both are 9x12 inches.  

Fringe On Top

 The chimney with a fringe on top at Greylock Works in North Adams, MA appeals to me.  But so does the combination of red brick and blue sky.  And sites of former glory, which are still beautiful, or beautiful because of what they have been and are now, like Roman ruins, or old New England mills.  But this old mill is slowly being transformed.  I don't know how long the fringe will be there.
