Large Canal

This is another large (11x14) charcoal drawing of the canal from the bridge at Grant Street at early morning. I love moving charcoal dust around a paper surface with my fingers. Touch, wipe, touch, wipe, push, and smudge, and touch and wipe some more.

All that pushing and shoving sure makes for some terrific texture. I think you're getting the hang of it. To say the least.

This is very nice, Bob. I really like these large format charcoal drawings you've done recently - the canal drawing from January 11th was beautifully done, too.

Sam and Brian, Thank you. I like making them, and will continue. They are an opportunity to experiment with different approaches. I can't new subject matter, since I seem to just do canals, rivers, trees, snow, ice, and dirt.
