Drawing Corn Stalks
Corn Stalks, Williamstown, MA. 9x12 inches, vine charcoal and charcoal pencil on paper. The farmer told me that the corn stalks were left behind because the ground was too wet for the tractor. I believe it.

More Cohesion
Hoosic River, Williamstown, MA.11x14 inches, oil on canvas panel. I went back to the same site a couple days ago to rework this painting. The flux needed more cohesion.

Always Moving
Hoosic River, Williamstown, MA. 11x14 inches, oil on canvas panel. While I was painting yesterday, two guys went by in a boat, one fishing, the other trying to control the boat with oars. I said to them, "I need one of those to paint from." The guy with the fishing rod said, "If only we could keep the boat still." If only I could keep the river still.

The Ocean at Ogunquit
The Ocean at Ogunquit 2. 5x7 inches, oil on canvas panel. The second in a series. I'm always amazed at how suggestive a little paint can be.

Trying to Paint
Hoosic River Scene, Williamstown, MA. 9x12 inches, oil on canvas panel. Standing in the midst of boulders at the water's edge this afternoon, I tried to paint the water flowing around this little island in the river.
