All Those Stones

A painting of the Hoosic River from the stone beach in Williamstown, MA.  My concern was how to paint all those stones without painting all those stones.  It helps that a painting is an illusion. 16x20 inches, oil on linen canvas.

At the Stone Beach

This morning I painted at the stone beach on the Hoosic River near the Syndicate Road entrance to the new walking path in Williamstown, MA.  When the leaves come out, this place will look quite different. 12x12, oil on linen panel.

A Passageway

This painting depicts a passageway between one large field and another through a thick row of trees in Williamstown, MA.  I'm still celebrating the summer season, which isn't here yet. This doesn't mean that I'll be painting winter paintings in the summer.  18x24 inches, oil on linen canvas.

Swirling Water

The Hoosic River along the new walking path in Williamstown, MA seemed to be moving faster yesterday than a couple of days ago.  The low spot off the path where I painted then was now covered with two feet of swirling water. I turned around and set up a few feet away looking in the opposite direction. 12x12 inches, oil on linen panel.

Still Full of Snow

Yesterday afternoon, I went walking in the woods at Hopkins Forest in Williamstown, MA. They're still full of snow.  And where there wasn't any snow, it was all mud.  But I'll take it.  It was quiet.  8x10 inches, gouache on mixed media paper.

The Memory Painting

The memory painting of the home of my grandparents keeps on developing, as it sits in my studio where I see it every day.  Funny how that happens.  It's becoming more ethereal.  18x24 inches, oil on linen canvas.

More Wishful Thinking

In the summertime, the complaint is that there's too much green.  In the wintertime, the complaint is that it's not summertime.  Here's more wishful thinking, showing the farm buildings at Sheep Hill in Williamstown, MA.  8x10 inches, gouache on mixed media paper.

Asymmetrical Symmetry

A painting of the Marine Railways at Rocky Neck in Gloucester, MA.  The chaotic, asymmetrical symmetry appeals to me.  18x24 inches, oil on linen canvas.
