When I wandered down this street I thought there was something about this building that appealed to me. Anyway, now I know it was the color and the covered store fronts. What's behind those grates? The grates are down even in Google Maps, though the graffiti is not yet present. This is an 8x10 oil on canvas.

Dean and Flatbush
A 9x12 oil on panel of the view at the corner of Dean and Flatbush in Brooklyn. Looks a little like De Chirico with the windblown tarp.

St. Marks Toward Underhill
This painting is a 9x12 oil on panel, a cradled wooden panel needing no frame. Though the panels cost a little more, not needing a frame is a savings. The view is on St. Marks Street looking toward Underhill Avenue in Brooklyn. Heavy metal cars seem to evaporate in the sunlight.

Another Jordan Pond
Another 8x10 Jordan Pond oil on panel. I like this one because it's simple and abstract, meaning much is left to the imagination, except it's really Jordan Pond at the North end where the water laps the shore when the wind blows.

Ogunquit on My Mind
An 8x10 pastel of a view from the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine, early in the morning. I'm juggling several paintings in progress, some just started in my mind.

Spring Street in the Fall 3
I didn't think I would finish this painting today (I may still touch it up): a 12x24 oil on panel. Now I can move on to a few pastels. I also started one yesterday. After I completed the two earlier paintings of Spring Street, it was suggested that I move to the other side of the street. I hope this suffices.

Jordan Pond 6
I'm still walking around Jordan Pond: a quickly painted 8x10 oil on panel. I've starved myself sufficiently from doing pastels, that I plan on doing a few in the coming days.

Spring Street in the Fall 2
Another view of Spring Street in the fall, this time from the opposite direction, facing north: also an 18x24 inch oil on canvas.

Autumn Tree
This morning I had a couple hours so went to a favorite tree (like a dog), which I had scouted out earlier, and worked as fast as I could. The above is the result, a 9x12 oil on panel. I have a new device which I can use with my guerrilla box, which allows me to work vertically, and outside of the box lid. Much better.

Spring Street in the Fall
This is a large painting for me, 18x24, oil on canvas, of the main street in Williamstown, looking south. It's early in the morning, so there are no people, just a few cars.

Bridge at Mount Hope Park
The weather improved this afternoon, so I went back to Mount Hope Park, to the same spot on the Green River, except that I looked in the opposite direction back toward the old bridge. There a lot of large unusually shaped rocks below the bridge forming a waterfall. It's a cooling off spot in the summer, but no one was there today. This one is a 9x12 oil on panel.

Green River at Mount Hope Park
A small 8x10 oil on panel of the Green River at Mount Hope Park done this afternoon. I had not noticed the remnants of an old bridge before (see the concrete on the left). This weekend I took a course with the splendid plein air painter Walter Pasko. I'm focusing on working wet into wet, with values keyed from the highest value, and keeping areas simple while adding subtle variation at the end. That's enough, don't you think. With an 8x10 panel, the end comes quite quickly.

Jordan Pond 5
What's interesting about this Jordon Pond view is the pie wedge boulder, which repeats in reverse the notch between the 'Bubbles'. Okay, maybe it's not that interesting. But I like it anyway. There's another wedge at the upper left of hill and trees, and then each mountain is a wedge. Everything is always something else, or resembles something else. That's what's interesting.

Sloan Road in Early October
The weather has been so great that I had to go outside and paint. I set up on Sloan Road today for this 9x12 oil on panel painting. With the rain coming tomorrow, today may have been the last great day for the fall foliage. I hope not since Sunday and Monday are supposed to be nice.

Jordan Pond 4
The rocks that ring Jordan Pond mimic the mountains around it, especially the 'Bubbles'. Somehow they were all tastefully placed for our enjoyment. Another 8x10 oil on panel.
