Carres in Cannes
The 11x14 oil of the previous drawing.
From a book I am reading at the moment, Seek Treasures in Small Fields by Joan Puls: "Sometimes the other or the strange is quite near us, even approaching us in people we think we know well, in situations we think we can handle, or in places we have come to take for granted. We have looked at them so often that we now fail to see them. We think we are experts in reading our reality only to miss the message beneath the mask."

Cannes Drawing
I am delving into my accumulated preparatory material. This is an 11x14 drawing of a side street in Cannes.

Nelson House Walk Way
Actually it did not occur to me while walking in the woods, but while doing nothing in particular, what I will concentrate on doing next. Of course, walking in the woods is doing nothing in particular, but I wasn't walking when really doing nothing in particular. Time, or the next few days, will tell if what I want to do will have substance. The above is a 12 x 12 oil of the Nelson House where Washington crossed the Delaware.

Tree Trunk Star
While I was wandering through the woods, wondering what to do next, I came across this tree. Unfortunately, there wasn't a wizard behind it to suggest what direction to take. So I stopped and drew the trunk.

Downhill and Upmountain
I am getting the itch to do some different subjects in my painting. I'll come up with something. This is a 9x12 oil on panel.

Alongside the Park Road
In the morning when I walk along the park road, I sometimes get off the road, and walk alongside of it. 8x10 pastel.

Another Puddle
An 8x10 pastel of the puddle in the path at the Church Street bridge. I wished I lived in a more romantic environment. Getting excited about puddles seems pretty unexciting. Trying to make puddles seem exciting is...a challenge.

A Pastel and a Bear
The image at the top is an 11x14 pastel looking up Stratton Road from the field. Not too far from this spot I encountered the bear you see in the bottom photograph. Fortunately she was going in the direction away from me, so I was able to move back out of sight. When I had circled around and looked back I saw she was accompanied by two cubs who were not visible when I spotted mama. Fortunately, she didn't spot me.
Brooklyn Corner
The last painting of the foursome that I started last weekend. Lots of marks signifying something, I hope.
11x14 oil.
